Mechanical Sign Off

Brush up on the basics of headlight operation, vacuum circuit breaker thresholds, brake test pressures and imposed speed restrictions.

Daylight Hours:

  • One headlight or ditch light fails, continue in service; two return trips allowed.
  • Both headlight and ditch light fails, or 3 of 4 lights fail, continue to destination at Normal Speed, Restricted Speed over level crossings.
  • All lights fail, continue to destination at Restricted Speed, 10 km/h over level crossings.

Hours of Darkness:

  • One headlight or ditch light fails, continue in service; two return trips allowed.
  • Both headlight and ditch light fails, or 3 of 4 lights fail, continue to destination at Restricted Speed.
  • All lights fail, continue at Restricted Speed to next station; if possible, return to Wiri, otherwise recovery required. Stop at all level crossings, then proceed at a maximum of 10 km/h over the crossing.
